Extra Mile E-Commerce in Omaha selected Lacey Construction to build their new 23,000 square foot headquarters. The new headquarters is located West of the UBT center in Elkhorn. This project features a 4,200 square foot mezzanine allowing for scenic workspaces overlooking the Elkhorn river valley. The building includes retail space, office space and warehousing for all of the Extra Mile Businesses. Extra Mile E-Commerce is the parent company of Omaha Sports and Games Company, DiscStore.com, and 50+ other online stores and is one of the only Inc 5000 companies in Nebraska.

The building was completed in June of 2022, and won the Excellence in Design Award from American Buildings.

Lacey Construction brought my vision for our new company headquarters to life.

Here is what the process looked like for me.

In 2020 I got a postcard in the mail for Lacey Construction when I had been thinking about the possibility of building. I filled out the contact form on their website, and Tobin quickly responded asking if I wanted to set up a meeting or send over any sketches of what I had in mind. They took my sketches and their architect started creating floor plan options. After many revisions and refinements, we had the perfect layout for our new headquarters. Tobin was amazing throughout the entire pre-construction process, working between the architects, engineers, and myself to get everything exactly as I wanted.

Meanwhile, the original land I was looking at for the building fell through. But there was a beautiful piece of land nearby that I also had my eye on. This land wasn’t listed on Loopnet, but Chuck Lacey, the owner of Lacey Construction, knew the owner of the land, connected us, and even helped us work out some of the details. I believe that we never would have gotten this beautiful 3 acre plot without Chuck.

After the land was purchased, construction began shortly after in summer of 2021. Tobin handed me off to Caleb, the construction project manager. Caleb worked with the Lacey crews and subcontractors to make sure everything was exactly as I had envisioned. Anytime something wasn’t perfect, Caleb took full responsibility (even when it was probably my fault!) and fixed the issue. Construction finished in May of 2022 and we moved in shortly after.

Throughout the whole process, it seemed like everyone on the Lacey team bent over backwards to make sure everything was perfect and exactly what I had envisioned. As someone who knew what they wanted and had a vision of what the HQ should look like, I was probably quite the pain, but they never made me feel that way.

WAHOO STATE BANK

Fire recently destroyed the landmark Wahoo State Bank building. Wahoo State Bank has entrusted Lacey Construction, Inc. to rebuild this important corner in downtown Wahoo. This project is currently being designed by a collaboration of architects from DLR Group and JEO Consulting Group. Construction is currently planned to begin later this year.

What made you choose Lacey Construction as your trusted partner in your commercial construction project?

We felt Lacey Construction had the requisite expertise combined with our familiarity with them as a Wahoo based business offered multiple advantages. All things considered, they earned the opportunity to build our bank building with their passion for the project and potential to make this an enduring legacy for our community and our respective businesses.

How satisfied are you with the results?

We are very happy and satisfied with our new bank building. The functionality and design of the building along with the quality of construction have far exceeded our expectations.

What accomplishments are you most proud of that Lacey Construction helped with?

We are very proud of the many attractive design details of the building including extensive glass, beautiful brick and stone, eye catching lighting and great functional interior spaces for customers and employees.

Like most building projects there are always bumps in the road. How did Lacey Construction handle the bumps in the road?

As the owner, we were insulated from most of the bumps in the road and Chuck and Jeff were responsive to issues that arose.

Would you suggest using Lacey Construction for your commercial building needs? If so how come? If not how come?

Yes, we would recommend and use Lacey Construction for our future building needs. As a smaller company, they are accessible and engaged very closely during the building project. This is a big advantage as larger companies don’t always have the ability to be onsite everyday, all day as Lacey was during our project.

What is your favorite part about your new facility?

The forethought and planning of the design that resulted in tremendous quality, functionality and ability to provide a great work place for our employees and customers is the favorite part of our new facility!

How would you describe working with Lacey Construction?

Very enjoyable. They were forthright and honest, hard working and always responsive to issues that arose and concerns that were raised.
